Affordable Housing
Affordable Housing at The Meadows
The Meadows at Prairie Ridge participates in the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, which provides apartment homes with rental rates established according to affordable housing program guidelines. Eligibility is based on household income, household size, and other program requirements. The Meadows at Prairie Ridge offers apartment homes at multiple income levels, including 50%, 60%, and 70% of Area Median Income (AMI).
Our Process
How Rent Works
Rent at The Meadows is not based on your individual household income. Each apartment has a designated income level, and rental rates are established based on that designation and the number of bedrooms in the apartment home.
Housing Choice Vouchers and other qualifying rental assistance are accepted. Voucher holders are encouraged to confirm applicable payment standards and program requirements with their housing specialist before applying.
All applicants must meet the income and eligibility requirements for the apartment they are applying for. Household income includes applicable income received by household members and is reviewed as part of the application and certification process.
Income limits vary based on household size and the designated income level of the apartment home. Households consisting entirely of full-time students may be subject to additional eligibility requirements under the LIHTC program. Certain exceptions may apply. Our leasing team is happy to help explain the program, current income limits, rental rates, and application requirements.

Visit the Floor Plans page to select your new home. Once you’ve found the home you’d like to apply for, select “Start Application” to begin your online application.
Before starting, be sure you have all required documentation ready. You will be required to upload all supporting documentation as part of the online application process.
Review the Resident Selection Criteria before applying for details about required documentation, fees, screening criteria, and eligibility requirements.
Please note: Each household member age 18 or older must have a unique email address and create their own applicant portal account to complete their portion of the application.
Step 3 – Application Processing and Review
Your application will go through a two-phase review process, which may take up to two weeks to complete. During this time, additional information or documentation may be requested. Responding promptly to all requests is important to keep your application moving and avoid delays or cancellation.
Phase 1: Screening & Income Verification
ScreeningWorks will complete the initial background screening. Once this review is successfully completed, your application will move to the next phase.
Phase 2: Affordable Housing Eligibility Review
Our team will review your household information and supporting documentation to confirm eligibility under the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program.
Please monitor your email throughout the process and respond promptly to any requests for additional information or documentation.
Step 4- Schedule MI – You’re almost home!
Once your application and affordable housing eligibility are approved, our leasing team will contact you to confirm your apartment home and move-in date. You’ll also have the opportunity to take a virtual tour of your new home before move-in.
As your move-in date approaches, we’ll schedule a move-in orientation with you. During your appointment, our team will:
- Confirm your Resident Portal is set up and ready to use
- Verify that required utilities have been transferred into your name
- Collect your security deposit and first rent payment
- Complete and sign your lease and other required documents
- Walk you through your new apartment and community
- Answer any final questions
- Hand over the keys to your new home!
Then it’s official — welcome home to The Meadows at Prairie Ridge!

Everyone deserves a good place to live. That's the idea behind everything Broadway Street builds, and it's why affordability sits at the center of our work, not on the side of it.
More Than a Place to Live
A good apartment is just the start. What makes it a home is the people next door, the shared spaces, and the sense that you belong somewhere. That's what we aim to create for every resident.
Room to Breathe
By keeping housing affordable, we help our residents gain financial breathing room and a better quality of life.
